Year 1 has explored identifying large amounts by grouping in tens. We practiced counting in our 10s and then added the ones to correctly identify how many sticks we had. We noticed that 10 numbers all end in zero (10, 20, 30, 40...). We noticed that the first digit tells us how many tens there are. For example, 50 has 5 tens, 40 has 4 tens ect.
