Year 1 have begun their Kings and Queens topic by exploring famous portraits of Queen Elizabeth II. The children looked closely at how artists create facial features and discussed what makes a portrait recognisable. They then practised careful line work, focusing on creating smooth curves and neat circles to form the shape of the face and eyes. This helped develop their drawing skills, control and attention to detail while linking art to their history learning.
