Dear parents and carers,
Welcome to the new academic year. We were very excited to welcome the children back on Monday and the staff and pupils have really enjoyed getting to know one another this week and beginning to build those positive relationships that will underpin and support the learning that takes place for the rest of the year.
A special welcome to our new starters in Reception. Kingfisher Class and Otter Class have made very positive starts to their school journeys. They will, I’m sure, be feeling a bit tired as we finish the first week, but they can be very proud of the start they have made. We look forward to having them all in full-time from Monday. We also welcome Miss Humm to Otter Class, who is the class teacher for Thursdays and Fridays.
We’ve spent this week on a project called ‘All about me, all about us’ which is designed to support building relationships, building understanding of our feelings and emotions as well as building a sense of class unity. There has been lots of talking, listening, being creative and tackling challenges.
We’ve also been introducing and reminding the children of our school rules:

Work Hard
We’ve had a fantastic week of attendance to start the year. Overall, our attendance for the week was over 98.5% and we even started the week with 100% attendance on Monday. This is a great start that we can continue to build on. Everyday in school is important for building relationships, building belonging and developing our learning.
Next week Year 1 and Year 2 will begin to get into their autumn term curriculum a bit more. Reception will continue to learn the rules and routines of school and begin to build on their independence and team-working skills.
