Dear parents and carers,
This will be our final newsletter of the year… and what a year it has been! There is so much to look back on and be proud of, for each and every child. We’re delighted with the progress that all the children have made and for all that they have achieved personally, socially and academically this year. Most importantly, we know that all the children, in their own way, have developed the learning behaviours which we believe will make them learners for life. They have all grown their ability to be resilient, creative, determined, compassionate and a good team worker.
For our Year 2’s we’re particularly proud of the journey they’ve been on over the last three years, or slightly less for those that have joined along the way. From starting school in Reception, to now being ready to leave and move onto key stage two. We know they’re more than ready and that they will embrace the new challenges and opportunities that come their way.
It was lovely to see lots of parents and carers attending the open evenings this week to share the children’s books and see their progress. If you weren’t able to make it, the majority of books will be coming home next week, so you can take a look in your own time. It’s always a real eye-opener to compare what the children could do in the first few weeks of the school year to what they can do now.
The Reception children have come on so much this year and it was wonderful to hear that they celebrated the end of the year with a fantastic trip to the beach on Wednesday – their biggest trip of the year. Despite a last-minute change from Saunton to Woolacombe, the day went very well. The children had a lovely time making sandcastles, playing games and enjoying each other’s company. Members of the public commented on how polite and respectful the children were, which makes us incredibly proud. What a great bunch they are! Thank you to all the parent helpers and the staff for organising the trip.
A huge thank you for your support of the PTFA summer fayre last Friday. There was a fantastic turnout and lots of fun. A huge thank you to Sarina and Natalie for organising it all and to those that helped to run stalls. The total amount raised stands at £1318 which is phenomenal! This money will hugely benefit the children and the school next year. Thank you again.
It was lovely for the children who attended private music lessons with Mrs Buckley to perform for parents and carers this week. The children loved showing off their skills and there were lots of proud grown-ups. Mrs Buckley wants to build on this next year with some more performances for the rest of the school.
Next week we have just two days in school, with Tuesday being our final day of the academic year for the children. Year 2 have their end of year bowling on Monday and we will hold a final assembly on Tuesday morning. The sunny weather looks to be continuing, so please continue with the hats, suncream and drinks bottles.
Have a lovely weekend and once we finish on Tuesday a lovely summer holiday. The Autumn term starts on Monday 7th September.
