Dear parents and carers,
We hope you’re well and have been enjoying the warm weather this week. Today has been quite hot, but we’ve been making the most of the shade and some well-timed ice-poles to keep cool.
This morning, Owl Class and Squirrel Class (Y1) have enjoyed an online art workshop with other Year 1 and Year 2 children from around the trust. Mrs Laurence from High Bickington C of E Academy, led the session.
As we head towards the end of the academic year, it is a great moment to stop and reflect on the progress that the children have made this year. Your child will be bringing their annual report home today. I’ve had the pleasure of reading them all and it is amazing to read about how far they have come. As we often say to the children, we’re all unique and progress looks different for each individual. The reports are also very clear on where the children have challenges and barriers that we’ll continue to work to overcome next year. We feel the reports are a true reflection of each pupil and we hope you enjoy reading them.
Next Wednesday, after school we have an open evening where you can come in and see your child’s progress this year, in their book. Again, this is a great opportunity to reflect and see just how far they’ve come since September. This is also a time to speak to the staff team if you have any queries about your child’s report. We hope you can pop in for ten minutes to have a look.
A big THANK YOU this week to Exmoor Fascias, who delivered us a load of guttering for free. We’re going to be using it to add to Year 1’s outdoor provision as well as, hopefully, building a waterwall on the playground.
We’re really looking forward to the PTFA Summer Fayre this afternoon and hope that everyone really enjoys it. The small but mighty PTFA have been working incredibly hard to put on a great event to raise funds for the school and bring our school community together. We will let you know the total raised next week.
Next week is the last full week of the year. The Reception classes are really excited about their beach trip. So far, the weather forecast is looking promising. I’m sure they’ll have lots to tell us when they get back, as well as lots of sand in unusual places!
Please keep sending in the named hats, drinks bottles and suncream everyday. UV levels are high.
