Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
Dear Parents and Carers,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I am Stacey Pye and I am the SENDCo (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator). I began this role in September 2017 after being a class teacher for 14 years, I have a wealth of teaching experience in key stage 1 and reception and I have completed the SENDCo Award. I currently teach one day a week in Squirrel Class.
The main responsibility of the SENDCo is to take the lead on implementing the best practice in meeting the needs of pupils with a range of SEND across school, taking in to account current initiatives and/or research. This includes monitoring the progress of pupils with SEND and supporting our teaching staff in maintaining a high standard of quality first provision for our children. The four key areas of my role are:
- The IDENTIFICATION of children with special educational needs in the school
- TRACKING and MONITORING the progress of children with SEND
- Ensuring there is HIGH QUALITY TEACHING AND INTERVENTION for children with SEND
- Developing the SEND PROVISION in the school further
I used to hold a weekly drop in session, however due to COVID restrictions I am not able to run these presently, however if you have any concerns please feel free to drop me an email, email@example.com and I will arrange phone call or virtual meeting at a time which suits you. I can offer you advice or refer you to the right professionals who can help you further. I recognise that as parents you know your children best and I welcome any information you can provide me with that can help your child in school.
I work in school on a Monday and Thursday you can contact me through the school office on these days.
