How do we keep you up to date on what's happening in school?
There are a number of ways we communicate with parents. Firstly, we encourage everyone to sign up to Parentmail which is our email system where we send out regular updates and our weekly newsletter. If you haven't already signed up please see Sue in the office. If you don't have email access we can send out a paper copy.
Each term our teaching staff sends out year group newsletters to give you a preview of what the children will be learning.
We also run meetings throughout the year for parents. For example, in the summer term we always hold a meeting for each year group. This allows you to meet the new teaching team that your child will be with the following academic year. It's a great opportunity to find out about the expectations, curriculum etc in the new class and ask any questions you may have.
Other meetings we run include Phonics and Reading in Reception, Reading Eggs for parents of Year 1 children, updates on the National Curriculum and statutory end-of-key- stage tests. (We also run training for the local pre-schools and nurseries).
We send an interim report in the spring term and a full report in the summer term. These are followed by parents evenings which we hold every term.
We have an open door policy where parents can come in and speak to the teachers (although we do ask that you make an appointment if you need to talk to us at length as we want to make sure we give you the time you need - first thing in the morning is very busy in school).
Our PTFA is also a great way to become involved with the school. Our Chair this year is Hazel Ireland and you can leave a message for her via the school office. We need lots of support with our events throughout the year such as the Christmas and Summer Fayre. These are vital as they raise a lot of money which goes into fantastic resources and experiences for the children.
If you have any more ideas on how we can communicate with you please let us know via the school email email@example.com or using the suggestion box outside the main office.
PANTS NSPCC website
Talking PANTS teaches children important messages, like their body belongs to them and they should tell an adult if they're upset or worried.
Get together and singalong with Pantosaurus to get the conversation started. https://www.nspcc.org.uk/preventing-abuse/keeping-children-safe/underwear-rule/
