Governors

If you feel you have the time to spare and have a keen interest in education, why not apply to become a school governor? We would love to hear from you if you think it is something you would enjoy and we can put your name on our list for the next governor vacancy that we have.

Please see Sue or Carol in the office and make an appointment to talk to the Headteacher, Jayne Kyle when you have time.

Pilton Infants' School Governing Body

The Governing Body consists of eight members; there are no additional, regular committees. We meet every half term. The minutes of our meetings are a public record and are available to view in the school office. You can also read them here.

Governors have a term of office of four years from when they are appointed. The Chair is elected on a yearly basis, usually at the first meeting of the autumn term.

 Role of the Governing Body

Governors work with the headteacher and the local authority to ensure that the pupils receive the best possible education. With the headteacher we agree the vision, values, objectives and conduct of the school, ensure that the pupils have a full entitlement to the agreed curriculum and manage the school within its allocated budget.

The role of the governing body can be summarised into 3 key tasks:

providing strategic direction
ensuring  accountability and
ensuring financial probity

Our current Governing Body is constituted of eight Governors as follows:
